Default my introduction and first post

I am J B Roberts a retired engineer /author.

I have been working on solving the physical problems associated with harvesting unlimited, non depleting, clean, and free wave energy from the oceans of the world for twenty years.

I can show you how to derive 0.7 mega watts of electrical power from a twenty foot section of one five foot wave for the approximate five seconds that it takes for the wave to pass . This requires absolutely no fuel input and can be used to generate hydrogen.

There is no reason to discuss efficiency when you have an unlimited, non depleting, free raw energy source.

I am a new Member, Wind Energy Professional based in India.

My comments on Mr.Roberts' proposal - Have you worked out the cost ? Cost of structurals for Wave energy systems may be too high. If it is a near shore location, Wind energy project may be more viable.

Default Insurance

Just want to introduce my self. I am an Insurance Broker and specialize in the Wind Industry. Insurance is boring, Wind is WOW!
Insurance however is like Auto Club, you pay and rarely use but when needed...whew, worth it.

We have a new exclusive program for construction and operational coverage that "blows" the competition away in coverage and price. We have been working on putting this together for almost a year and we are now ready to roll it out.

Just for an idea of what we have, our first quote against the competion on an operational farm; them $1.1 Mill. Us, $850K. $250,000 savings, sweet! To many details to post here.

If any of you have any questions on this or think the person who handles your companies insurance would like to find out more, please contact me.

Thanks

My interest in joining this forum is on behalf of a newly formed nonprofit called Green Collar Vets. We act as a value-added employment service to link newly-exiting military veterans with careers in the emerging sustainable industries.
We are starting our work in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area of Texas. Here, we are mainly limited to 'green' construction employment opportunities. However, many of the vets we talk to are interested in renewable energy fields. Our plan for the nonprofit is to expand services to all of Texas over the next 6 months, and then operate a national job-board online in 2008.
I am interested in hearing about training and educational opportunities in RE & EE as well as who is hiring and what skills are needed.
Many of these veterans have spent a tour or 2 in Iraq or Afghanistan, are trained in leadership and teamwork, and want to work in an industry that is important to them. Hooray for them. We'd simply like to facilitate their job search.

Default heliostat code

Hi:

My name is David Williams. I have been interested in heliostats for 20+ years, and have written some simple BASIC code to do relevant calculations in a computer-controled heliostat. You can find it in the "solar" area of the forum. I used an icon with a little blue face to make it easy to find. It is dated January 8, 2008.

Anyone who is interested in this, please e-mail me:

david.williams@bayman.org

That's in Toronto, Canada.

Default new to the group

New member:
First post. I'm Chris. I live in Maryland and I'm thinking seriously about selling my present home and building an energy efficent dwelling. I am looking for designs and builders. I'm attempting to educate myself on the subject.

On another front, I will need two cars in the next few years and want to buy a hybrid vehicle. Both myself and wife have long commutes and no public transit is available for us.

Default Greetings and Salutations

I draw pictures for engineers. (Drafter/Designer)
I have an Associates of Applied Sciences in Surveying and Civil Drafting.
I've drafted/designed civil, structural, environmental remediation, electrical generation, transmission and distribution, and utility mapping since 1991. Hand drafting, MicroStation (up to v8) and AutoCAD (up to 2005), with a stiff nod to ArcInfo for a couple of years.

Been doing the contract circuit the last couple of years (again *sigh*) and it's getting mighty old. Getting the idea I am fast approaching or bouncing along some sort of ceiling in my career path, and this just ain't getting me where I wanna go.
Well? Why not take a hard look at something that's of interest to me (on several levels)?
Renewables, energy/resource conservation, all that there stuff... all my life I've heard we need to be advancing in these fields. Yet... in practice... in my career... only minimal steps have been taken in those directions, and then only -it seems- under duress.

Uhm... any rate.
Hiya!

Default Introducing Green Triangle Industries, Inc.

Hi Everyone,

My name is Jeremy and I am the CEO of a newly formed multi-faceted Alternative Energy company. Currently we have offices in Houston, Texas and Southwest Arizona and are installing and maintaining solar, wind and small hydro-electric systems. We are interested in all of the information available that is related to Alternative (Green) Energy products and technologies.

Since we are newly formed and composed of mostly Persian Gulf Veterans ourselves we have great interest in employing Veterans so we defiantly want to hear from Green Collar Vets. Please reply to sales@greentriangleindustries.com. Thank You

Cool Introduction

Hi, my name is Nicole and I'm an executive manager for a new business based in Las Vegas, Nevada. I am trying to educate myself more on renewable energy resources. Our new business specializes in the design, installation and maintenance of solar electric (PV) and wind power systems. The company is also licensed and bonded. We're really excited to do this business in Las Vegas considering how much energy the city uses. If anyone knows how to get the finances for our business, please let me know. nickygex@yahoo.com

Post Howdy From Texas

We are a research group in renewables at West Texas A&M University, been working at it for 30 years now and getting to apreciate wind and sun more as time goes by.

general info at www.windenergy.org

and looking for new facts or concerns about renewables, focusing on wind, since Texas is now the #1 installed capacity of any US state, and plans to stay there a while

Default New Member: Hello!

Greetings from Lompoc California. Home of a possible new 180 MW wind farm.
My name is Chris Hill and I have been actively working with Renewable energy for the past 7 years. I attended Solar Power 2006 in San Jose and enjoyed the SMA Inverter Certification class.
My largest RE project so far is an off-grid hybrid solar and wind powered transmitter site on the Central Coast. The system provides 24/7 power for a 2kW FM Class B1 and two FM translators and uses Outback Power, WattSun Trackers, Sharp PV, IBE battereis, Lister-Petter back up generator. Wind energy at the moment is out of service, but a SoCal manufacturer might be demo'ng their 2kW vertical turbine by the end of the year.
If you enjoy web-cam's, check out http://krqzcam.no-ip.org. In my spare time, I do Contract Radio Engineering for local AM and FM stations. My web site is http://www.CHTechServ.com Please feel free to e-mail with any questions.
