Modus Seabed Intervention, one of the North East’s leading subsea specialist companies, believes membership of a new industry partnership will bring even greater success in the North Sea renewable energy market.

Provisionally known as Norstec, the partnership is a global network of businesses aimed at maximising the North Sea market.

Jake Tompkins, Managing Director of Darlington based Modus, said: “Norstec brings together companies from across the world to help realise the potential of the North Sea and shows the ongoing ethos of collaboration in the renewable energy industry.”

Prime Minister David Cameron announced the new partnership, bringing together key players with an interest in making the most of the North Sea’s renewable energy resource at the Clean Energy Ministerial Conference.

Modus, which provides subsea trenching and construction support services, is also a member of Energi Coast and NOF Energy, and Mr Tompkins believes that the strength brought by such groups is key to the success of the industry.

He said: “Here in North East England alone, we have an extremely active network of companies which are thriving through their own strengths and the combined power of joint working. Norstec takes that thinking onto a global scale, and we felt that this was something Modus could not only benefit from being one of the first partners of, but it is also an initiative we can contribute greatly to, with our expertise in markets across the world.”

More than 20 firms based in several different countries have signed up to the shared vision to create a major new renewable energy power centre in the North Sea and to maximise the significant opportunities that come with it.

Norstec brings together key players who recognise the enormous opportunity offered by the North Sea. This network will come together around the time of the June RenewableUK conference on global offshore wind to discuss in more detail how the new partnership will operate.
