Beles Hydropower project starts generating 115 MW
The project at its full capacity would generate 460 MW when fully go operational within four to six weeks time.
Beles Hydro Electric Power Generation Project has started Wednesday generating 115 MW with its single turbine as part of the test trial.
The Ethiopia Electric Power Corporation Chief Executive Officer Mihret Debebe said the commencement of the project would help to address power shortage in the country.
The project has four turbines which has the capacity of generating 115 MW each.
The project at its full capacity would generate 460 MW when fully go operational within four to six weeks time.
Some 7.1 billion birr has been spent for Beles multipurpose hydroelectric power generation project.
Ethiopia is well undertaking infrastructural development especially in hydropower electric generating capacity since the nation is implementing multi development sector which demands much hydropower capacity, according to the economy.
