Bratislava-based company plans to generate electricity from biofuels
The Braitislava-baseThe Braitislava-based company Cheneco plans to invest €60 million in construction of two power facilities.
The new cogeneration units should generate electricity and steam from biofuels. The firm informed that they have already submitted the projects for Environment Impact Assessment (EIA). The construction of the cogeneration units should be launched this year and they should be completed in 2011. The company also plans to build a cogeneration unit which would generate power from recovered waste heat at the plant of Kovohuty Krompachy. The project is waiting for a construction permit. Cheneco released as well plans to erect a biogas power plant in Leopoldov, in which it plans to invest €15 million. The new facility should have installed capacity of 3.6 MW. Biofuel will be a mixture of woodchips and rapeseed grit. The biogas power plant will be located on the site of the distillery Slovenske Liehovary a Likerky.
